Leister Heatgun have been essential in the use of several big projects due to their high quality and versatile nature. The high-quality nature of Leister tools has provided robust solutions for clients in a range of industries and has even been used as an integral component to new prototype solutions by some of the world’s leading manufacturers.
The Electron Hot Air Welder, as well as the Mistral System (another favorite Leister hot air welder), are Gas Technology Institute (GTI) approved. GTI is a world leader in research, development, and training, and works to address energy and environmental challenges. GTI programs have resulted in over 500 new products, 750 licenses, and more than 1,300 new patents.
THE CHALLENGE
Needed heat source for their plastic gas line repair wrapping material machine.
THE SOLUTION
Created and installed an Electron Hot Air Welder with a special 360-degree air delivery nozzle.
THE STORY
Having a product approved by the GTI ensures its quality, durability, and environmental friendliness. Clients regularly get in touch with us to help solve heating concerns they have with their designs, such as Milliken Pipe Wrap, which is now known as GeoTree Solutions, who needed a smart solution for their new prototype — a gas line repair wrapping material machine.
The Challenge
A strong, durable, and repairable heat source was needed for a new prototype – a plastic gas line repair wrapping machine - by GeoTree Solutions. Size and weight constraints had to be taken into consideration, and the solution needed to work perfectly, and - most importantly - be approved by the Gas Technology Institute.
The Solution
Our team worked with Milliken Pipe Wrap/GeoTree Solutions to ensure their requirements were met. After reviewing all requirements, it was decided to install an Electron Hot Air Welder with a special 360-degree air delivery nozzle.
Milliken Pipe Wrap/GeoTree Solutions designed and fabricated the gas line repair wrapping machine and integrated the Leister Electron Hot Air Welder and nozzle. Gas pipe samples were repaired with the use of the Leister Electron Hot Air Welder, and the GTI tested and evaluated the samples. The GTI’s findings were that the samples produced were excellent, which led the new prototype to be forwarded on for a patent.
The Electron
The first solution was to use the Electron Hot Air Welder, which is a real powerhouse tool. It is incredibly ergonomic, can work with all existing Electron nozzles, and is easy to use and maintain. With a carbon stop and heating element, the Electron also provides automatic protective measures. It is a Swiss-made wonder and the ideal solution for the initial design, which is why it was approved by the GTI.
The Mistral Hot Air Welder
While the initial prototype was being tested, Leister released a new design of their Mistral Hot Air Welder with a brushless motor unit and a lockout feature. Our team, back at the drawing board, determined that this new design would prove a better solution for Milliken Pipe Wrap/GeoTree Solutions’ new prototype.
Capable of continuous operation, practically maintenance-free, and able to be used with either integrated controls or an external system interface, the Mistral was the ideal solution for the prototype. It featured an integrated thermocouple and automatic cool-down function as well, thus improving its efficiency and reducing its impact on the environment.
